Back to Lake Odessa

Funny that I had no knowledge of this little town nor any intention of visiting it on my shopping adventure last week. And now I am back for a second time and second look! Lake Odessa antiquing has my attention! Today I am revisiting the 2 main antique shops in the heat of the tiny downtown and also checking out the smaller shop at the end of town. (But don't get me wrong - you can see this shop from the other two!) I have a few items that I could not live without from my visit last week, a few items that need another look, and I'm hopeful to fall in love with a few new treasures as well. Not to mention the inspiration that fills me up on these shopping days! That alone makes the long drives worth it. First stop - Two Sisters Antique Mall ( the smaller shop in town). I fell immediately for a super chippy doorless pie safe. Inquiries made with the owner. Will return. Second stop - Bonanza Antiques. This is a super fun store with fun ladies willing to help and share stories. The front entrance would remind you of an old general store from yesteryear. I broke the buying seal for the day with a coveted antique water jug (or carboy), and a large metal basket. I buy these two things almost every place I go if the prices are good. In turn, I put these items in almost every space that I design! If you need a quick go to list - please add these to the top of your list! I also stacked a pile of maybes at the register. Stop three - Lake Odessa Antique Mall. This is the main event in town. It is super big and super crazy - I found a basement section today that I didn't know existed last week. DO NOT ever skip a hidden basement treasure trove! They are almost always fruitful! I referenced my list and started buying. The weathered black potting table was a must. I see a dining room bar or kitchen island opportunity here! I also purchased a two tiered industrial metal side table, a pair of vintage sap buckets, a few more different sizes of water jugs, an oversized wood tote (another obsession - I mean staple), 2 painted wooden boxes, and a heavily distressed, extraordinary pie safe (sorry other pie safe). They are so helpful and patient here. Checking out is just as fun and informational as touring the store. This store is truly the real deal. I can honestly say that I will never leave this store empty handed! :) I added several items to my shopping cart as well. It is important to shop with a list, and open mind, and a budget. I try to never exceed my desired spending and thus end up with a "shopping cart". I take pictures of items that I love but could not purchase due to budget or space restrictions. I do this because what I am looking for that day is usually pretty specific. But that gorgeous item might be your need! Or my need next week. :) So, I put them in my shopping cart knowing where they are and what they cost and make them available to you and me for the future! Please inquire if you ever see something in this section that interests you! We will find a way to get it!
